6A Regional Final – Day 2 Recap

Arlington Martin 6 Keller 3

It was Martin with the big innings in Game 2 scoring 4 runs in the 4th and 2 runs in the 5th leading the Warriors to a 6-3 win over Keller and tying up the best of 3 series.

Martin pitcher Eric Walker pitched a complete game and held Keller to 3 runs, 2 runs unearned, on 8 hits and 1 walk, striking out 4.

With the game knotted at 0-0, Tripp White opened the top of the 4th with a single and was moved to 2nd on a Trey Proffitt sacrifice bunt. Josh Watson followed with an RBI triple and then scored when Tristen Lutz singled. Aaron Fanning singled, moving Lutz to 3rd. An infield error on a hit by Josh Avery allowed Lutz and Fanning to score, giving Martin a 4-0 lead.

Keller picked up a run in the bottom of the 4th when Bradley Gneitling singled, moved around to 3rd on a wild pitch and fielder’s choice, and scored on another wild pitch.

Each team scored 2 more runs in the contest but Walker prevented Keller from getting any closer than 3 runs.

Watson had the hot bat for Martin, going 3-4 with a RBI triple and scored 2 runs in the contest. Tristen Lutz was 2-4 with 2 RBIs.

The two teams meet Saturday at 2 PM for the deciding game of the contest.

Dallas Jesuit 4 Oak Ridge 0

Dallas Jesuit scored runs early and Kyle Muller shut down the Oak Ridge offense to give Jesuit a 4-0 win and a berth in the State Tournament next week. The Rangers became the Region 2 champion with a 2-0 series win over Oak Ridge.

Cameron Dobbs reached base on a wild pitch 3rd strike to open the bottom of the 1st and scored when the next batter Darius Hill, tripled deep to center field. Grant Reuben later knocked Hill in with a base hit to left field, giving Jesuit an early 2-0 lead. The Rangers also scored a run in the 2nd on a Cameron Dobbs single and in the 5th on a Dobbs HR. Dobbs was 2-4 with the HR and 2 RBIs and scored 2 runs.

Kyle Muller pitched a complete game shut out giving up only 3 hits while walking 5. He also had 7 strikeouts.

Jesuit became the first team to punch their ticket to the state tournament and have compiled a 35-3-2 record along the way.

Cy Ranch 5 Clear Creek 0

Cy Ranch evened up the series and forced a Game 3 with a huge 5-0 win over Clear Creek. The deciding contest takes place Saturday at 1 PM.

Cy Ranch started off early scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st when a Marshall Skinner single scored Tyler Bielamowicz and Ryan Leftwich. The Mustangs scored 2 more runs in the 4th on 3 successive hits. Zeke Bear singled, Weston Brown tripled, and Hayden Evans singled to increase Cy Ranch’s lead to 4-0. Cy Ranch picked up another run in the 6th on an Elijah MacNamee RBI single.

Brent Hebert was the winning pitcher for Cy Ranch pitching 6 innings and allowing no runs on 5 hits and 3 walks. Mason Hibbeler pitched a scoreless 7th inning to combine on the shutout. The Mustangs have given up only 8 runs in 8 playoff games this year.

Tyler Bielamowicz got on base on all 4 at bats, stole 2 bases and scored 2 runs.
