FW Paschal Grad, TCU Signee Dies in Car Accident

Drew Medford, 2016 Ft. Worth Paschal High School graduate who had signed to play baseball at TCU , died in a one-vehicle accident early Thursday morning.

Medford was the 4-6A MVP this past baseball season and was named Honorable Mention All-State as a Catcher and Pitcher by the Texas Sports Writers Association. As a senior, he hit .382 with 14 2Bs, 1 HR and 22 RBIs. On the mound, Medford was 6-2 with a 1.06 ERA and 68 K’s. His 14 2Bs was tied for 11th in the state among all 6A players. His 68 Ks and 1.06 ERA stats were ranked in the top 55 pitchers among 6A players.

The Ft. Worth Star-Telegram quotes Paschal Head Baseball Coach Darrell Preston as saying “Everybody knows he’s an unbelievable baseball player, but his personality was infectious. You get into this profession and you coach these kids and treat them like they’re your own son.”

Medford had started working out with the TCU baseball team this summer and was set to start classes Monday.
