GameGrade 6A Team of the Week
Waco Midway – The Panthers avenged an early season loss to Belton in dominating fashion Tuesday night, earning a 12-2, six inning victory in a huge District 12 game. They closed the week with a win over Copperas Cove and now sit half a game back from the top-seeded Tigers. Additionally, Midway used Tuesday’s game as a “Home Run for Health Night” to raise funds for McLane Children’s Medical Center and honored two patients who threw out the first pitch. Great work on and off the field, Panthers!
Marcus – The Marauders faced off with Flower Mound in arguably the toughest series of the week and came out with a sweep. An eighth inning walk-off single got them a 2-1 win on Tuesday and they battled through extras again in a 2-1, nine inning victory on Friday. Marcus is now 20-7 on the year and in a three-way tie with the Jaguars and Coppell for first in District 6.
Atascocita – The Eagles battled a very good Summer Creek squad and Mother Nature for two district wins last week. After earning a 5-2 victory Tuesday night, Atascocita was trailing the Bulldogs 3-2 when rain caused Friday’s game to be stopped in the fourth inning. The Eagles scored 12 runs when the game was completed on Saturday to jump Summer Creek in the District 22 standings and now sit in second at 19-7, 9-3.
