As a Junior, Hernaiz hit .414 with 9 2Bs, 3 3Bs, 4 HRs, 24 RBIs, 50 Runs, and 17 SBs. He ranked #2 with 50 Runs among all 6A players. Hernaiz was selected to the 1-6A All-District Team as a 1st Team Shortstop. He also was selected to the El Paso All City Baseball Team as a 1st Team Shortstop.
Hernaiz was selected to play for the Reds Area Code Team in 2018.
As a Sophomore, Hernaiz hit .463 with 6 2Bs, 2 3Bs, 14 RBIs and 26 Runs. He was named to the 1-6A All-District as a 1st Team Shortstop. He was also named to the El Paso All City Baseball Team as a 2nd Team Shortstop.
