Flower Mound Takes 5A State Championship Title with 10-0 Win

Posted on:

SA Reagan……..0 0 0 0 0 – 0  1  1
Flower Mound..3 4 0 2 1 – 10 11 0

Box Score

Flower Mound had great pitching, played great defense and hit the ball well which added up to a big 10-0 win over San Antonio Reagan and the 2014 5A State Championship. Seth Jordan pitched 4.1 innings and allowed only one baserunner on one hit while striking out 3. He was named the 5A Championship Game MVP.

Flower Mound banged out 11 hits while scoring 10 runs in the 5 inning mercy rule ending. They dominated early scoring 3 runs in the 1st and 4 runs in the second. And, as they did in the Semifinal game, the Jaguars made no errors while making several great plays on defense.

Game Notes
*Top hitters for Flower Mound were Mitch Andrews, 3-4 with a triple and 2 RBIs; Tim Millard, 2-3 and 3 RBIs, and Connor Wanhanen, 2-3 with 2 runs scored.
*Mitch Andrews scored the game ending 1oth run in the bottom of the 5th with a hit down the left field line that was just fair. He headed to 3rd for a triple and the throw got away allowing him to score from 3rd
*In a classy move, Coach Wallace put in B.J. Myers to finish out the 5th inning. B.J., along with Jordan and Kyle Johnston, formed one of the top pitching staffs in Texas High School Baseball.

Aledo caps off a Cinderalla Season, Winning 4A State Title

Posted on:

In what could only be written in a Hollywood script, the District 7 3rd Place finisher waltzed through the UIL 4A Baseball Playoffs, recording only a single loss and captured the ultimate goal, a State Title in a win over Victoria East 4-0.

In a game that never seemed in question after an early Bearcat lead, Aledo cruised through the talented Victoria East lineup with precision.  Aledo pitcher, Taco Anderson, was lights out, allowing only 3 hits, striking out 4 and walking only 1 in a complete game shutout that earned him MVP honors.

Bearcat hitters tallied 8 hits and 6 walks, hitting .275 on the game.  Aledo capitalized on 3 Victoria East errors, resulting in all 4 runs being of the unearned variety.

Congratulations to the Victoria East Titans on a fantastic season.  The Titans are coached by one fantastic guy who will continue to have his team constantly at the highest level.

And finally, Congratulations to the Aledo coaching staff, players, administrators, and fans on a fantastic season, culminating in another State Championship in the 2013-2014 season.  Aledo is the first school in any classification to win both a football State Championship and a baseball State Championship within the same school year.
