Salado posted a 5–0 week, highlighted by wins over 3A No. 21 Thrall, 4A No. 9 Wimberley, and 3A No. 7 Troy. The Eagles gave up just two runs (one earned) and struck out 62 across five games, while scoring 43 runs offensively.
Runner Up
San Antonio Davenport rolled to a 5–0 weekend at the Laredo Border Olympics Tournament, hitting .346 with a .471 OBP while scoring 41 runs and swiping 27 bases. The Wolves were just as dominant on the mound, finishing with a 1.88 team ERA.
Honorable Mention
Huffman-Hargrave went 4–2 on the week, facing five 6A programs and a Top 25 5A opponent in Montgomery. They earned wins over Shadow Creek, Summer Creek, Oak Ridge, and Humble.
Quinlan Ford opened the season 5–0, including a 4–0 showing at the Week 1 Commerce Tournament.
Richland (Prosper ISD) made history in its first tournament, going 3–0–1 against 6A and 5A competition. The Raiders earned the program’s first-ever win with a 2–1 victory over Berkner (6A), followed by decisive wins over Princeton (12–6) and Independence (8–1). A 2–2 tie with Creekview capped an impressive debut weekend.
Gatesville went 5-0 in week 1 games, including wins against 2 preseason top 30 teams, No.30 Lampasas and No. 15 West Plains. Undefeated in the Brownwood Tournament.
Tuloso-Midway opened the season 5-1 and captured career win No. 300 for Coach Moody!
