Game Grade 3A Team of the Week
Yoakum Bulldogs – The Bulldogs had the most impressive opening week, going a perfect 3-0, with all wins coming over quality 4A competition. Yoakum started the week with a 5-0 shutout win over Cuero and backed that up with 4-2 win over La Grange and another shutout over El Campo, 5-0.
Runner-Up
Gateway Prep – The Gators have yet to give up a run on the season after 3 games, shutting out all three of their competitors en route to the Weimar championship. Gateway blanked Burton, #18 Hallettsville and Tidehaven in the championship game.
Honorable Mention
Shallowater – The Mustangs have begun 2018 with a 4-0-1 record. Shallowater got things going with a dominant 21-1 win over Coahoma. In their own tournament, they trounced Dalhart (19-3), San Jacinto (15-0) and River Road (10-0) before ending in a tie with two-time defending state champ (4A) Abilene Wylie (3-3).
