4A Division II State Championship

Patience was a true virtue for Spring Hill and they finally erupted for 4 runs in the 4th inning that propelled them to a 5-3 victory and earned Spring Hill their first ever Baseball State Championship. The Spring Hill Panthers are the 2025 4A Division II State Champions.

Wimberley got on the board in the top of the first. With two outs, Ty Thames and Wyatt Yeager singled. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Sage Hall singled to right center to score Thames, giving Wimberley a 1-0 lead.

With Thames on the mound, Wimberley sailed through the first 3 innings with Spring Hill only getting one hit, an infield single. But Spring Hill finally got to Thames in the bottom of the 4th. With two outs, Grant Burton singled and advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch. Cayden Rhodes followed with a single that scored Burton. A hit batter put runners on 1st and 2nd. Trenton Beall then singled to score Rhodes. Travis Allen followed with a 2 RBI single and Spring Hill led 4-1.

Spring Hill picked up another in the 5th on a Grant Burton RBI single to make it a 5-1 game. And Landon Bartell had settled in on the mound for Spring Hill. After giving a run in the first inning, he gave up just 1 hit and no runs through the next 5 innings. Bartell got in trouble to start the 7th giving up a single and a hit batter. Cayden Rhodes came in to finish the game.

Wimberley did pick up two more runs in the top of the 7th on a Yeatter single that scored two runs. But Rhodes got a ground out and a strike out to end the game and give Spring Hill the State Championship,

Bartell officially was at 6 IP. He gave up 5 hits and 3 runs on 4 Ks and 2 BB. He was named the Championship Game MVP. “This is an amazing feeling,” Bartell described. “We always make it interesting at the end but we came through again and I’m just very excited. I knew I had to settle in out there because I knew my guys would get me some run support. Getting those runs in that big inning was certainly a great help.”

Coach Garrett Methvin commented. “This team finished the job. From last August until now they came out ready to work, ready to get after it. If they had a challenge they responded to it. We talked about reaping what you sow and we see the fruits of their work today. I’m so thankful to be here and so thankful for this opportunity. Credit to the boys. They earned this.”
