4A GameGrade Team of the Week
Robstown Cotton Pickers – No. 14 Robstown went 3-0 for the second consecutive week, shutting out then-No. 19 Sinton (1-0) and Rockport-Fulton (16-0) in district play and ending Zapata’s 12-game win streak in the process (9-5). The Cotton Pickers are riding an eight-game win streak and sit comfortably atop District 31 with a perfect 11-0 record—and it’s worth noting that they’ve outscored district foes 82-12 through those games.
Runner-Up
Lubbock Estacado Matadors – The Matadors earned some separation in a very tight District 2 with another perfect week. They battled out wins over Lamesa (2-0) and Levelland (5-3)—who were at the top of the district at the start of the week—and now sit in a tie for first with Denver City. Estacado is starting to find its groove, and in a district race as competitive as this one, that’s a good sign for the Matadors.
Honorable Mention
Stephenville Yellowjackets – Stephenville kicked off the week with a huge 8-3 victory over then-No. 7 Midlothian Heritage and followed that up by defeating Alvarado 8-4. The 2-0 week jumped the Yellowjackets from just outside playoff contention to third in District 8. They’re now 5-4 in a solid district and 11-11-2 overall.
