4A GameGrade Team of the Week

Benbrook Bobcats – In just their second year competing at the varsity level, the Bobcats locked up the two-seed in District 7 after a 2-0 week. Benbrook avenged its first district loss to Mineral Wells in a big way, beating the Rams 17-0. Then the Bobcats earned a key win over a solid Castleberry team, 3-1. They’re 15-11, 8-2 heading into the final week of the regular season and gearing up for a showdown with one-seed Kennedale on Friday.

 

Runner-Up

Bridge City Cardinals – No. 10 Bridge City put together a 3-0 week with District 22 wins over Hamshire-Fannett and Orangefield and a good shutout win over 2A No. 2 Dallardsville Big Sandy. The Cardinals currently sit atop a tough district with an 8-1 record and will look to increase their six-game win streak to hold on to the one-seed.

 

Honorable Mention

La Vernia Bears – La Vernia made things interesting at the top of District 27 with a 2-0 week. The Bears got warmed up with a 20-0 win over Eastside Memorial and then battled for 14 innings to get a key victory against Navarro, 12-8. They’re now 17-6, 5-2 and currently hold the three-seed and will look for another standout win when they face No. 18 Wimberley in the regular season finale on Friday.
