4A GameGrade Team of the Week

Center Roughriders – The Roughriders rode their momentum for two good wins last week, which helped them debut at No. 25 in the THSB 4A poll. Center defeated a solid Carthage club 3-1 on Monday and then took down then-No. 16 Madisonville in a slugfest on Saturday, 16-10. Center now boasts an eight-game win streak and looks like it could continue cruising through District 16.

 

Runner-Up

Navasota Rattlers – No. 20 Navasota showed its fight last week to earn two big wins to stay atop District 20. The Rattlers battled a good Caldwell team to claim consecutive 2-1 victories—the first on a walk-off sacrifice fly and the second on a RBI single in extra innings. They’ll look to use that momentum to remain in control of the district through the last few weeks of the regular season.

 

Honorable Mention

Sinton Pirates – No. 19 Sinton was firing on all cylinders last week to pocket two more District 31 wins. The Pirate pitching staff (which is arguably one of the strongest in 4A) tallied 11 strikeouts in a one-sided win over West Oso and 14 in a shutout of Rockport-Fulton, while the offense recorded 26 runs on 24 hits. Though Sinton has two hiccups in district play, it’s hard to bet against this perennial powerhouse.
