5A Game Grade Team of the Week (Apr 17)
Port Neches Groves– Swept Lumberton 11-2 and 7-3 to take a commanding lead of District 22 (10-00). PNG also notched Head Coach Scott Carter his 500th Win. The Indians are in the drivers seat for the District Title.
Runner Up Tomball-Coming into the week with a 5-3 district record the Cougars picked up 2 key wins to move up in the 20-5A Standings. Tomball defeated Ranked Magnolia 1-0 in extra innings and Waller 3-0. During this playoff push Tomball has been lock down on the mound and on defense with 3 straight shutouts.
Hon Mention Georgetown-Picked up 2 wins to stay atop District 19 vs Georgetown East View (4-2) and avenged a first round loss vs Leander Rouse (5-0). It was a complete Team effort vs Rouse as Pitcher Justin Murphy threw a CGSO only needing 56 pitches while he faced 22 batters and allowed 2 hits. His defense behind him assisted him with every out expect one that came on a strikeout.
