High School Career
In his junior season, Mendoza hit .406 with 15 Doubles, 3 Triples, 2 Home Runs, 25 RBIs, 32 Runs, a .498 OBP, and a .660 SLG. He was selected to the 4-6A All-District Team as a 1st Team Infielder. He was also named to the Texas Sports Writers Association 6A All-State Team as an Honorable Mention SS.
As a sophomore, Mendoza hit .400 with 14 Doubles, 6 Triples, 27 RBI, 28 Runs, 14 SB, a .455 OBP and a .608 SLG. He was named to the 4-6A All-District Team as a 1st Team Infielder.
