In his junior season, Phillips was 9-1 with a 0.88 ERA and 97 Ks in 63.2 innings. He threw a 5-inning perfect game during the season. At the plate, he hit .389 with 10 Doubles, 5 Triples, 1 Home Run, 28 RBIs, 21 Runs and 15 Stolen Bases. He was named a 1st Team Pitcher on the 28-4A All-District Team. He was selected to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association 4A All-State Team as a 1st Team Outfielder and 2nd Team Pitcher and to the Texas Sports Writers Association 4A All-State Team as an Honorable Mention Pitcher and Outfielder.

As a sophomore in the shortened 2020 season, Phillips was 1-1 with a 1.84 ERA and 22 Strikeouts in 19 innings. At the plate, he hit .340 with 1 Double, 1 Triple, 6 RBIs, 6 Runs, 4 Stolen Bases and a .403 OBP.

In his freshman season, Phillips hit .370 with 2 Doubles, 4 RBIs, 10 Runs and 3 Stolen Bases in 28 Plate Appearances, missing the 2nd half of the season due to an injury.
