Cy Lake’s Sammy Lopez Is Dual Threat

Cy Lake Sr Sammy Lopez helped the Spartans get two wins this past week and he did it at the plate and also on the mound.

In the first game of the week, a 5-2 win over Cy Springs, Lopez pitched all 7 innings, surrendering 2 unearned runs on just 3 hits and 2 BBs while striking out 6.   At the plate he got on base all three times with 2 singles and a walk, scoring one of the runs.

In the second game of the week, a 4-1 win over Cy Springs, Lopez again was perfect at the plate with 3 singles and a walk and scored 2 of the Spartan’s 4 runs.  He also pitched the last 2.1 innings of the game, giving up no runs on 1 hit while striking out 4 to earn the save.
