Douglass took advantage of early Dawson walks and errors and then produced some of their own big hits to carry the Indians to a 9-0 win and a berth in the 1A State Championship Game on Thursday. Grant Holland gave up 8 hits but he came up with big pitches with each threat to hold Dawson scoreless. Holland walked only 1 and struck out 9.
Notes
Dawson outhit Douglass 8-7. They also gave up 8 BBs compared to 1 by Douglass.
Kolten Rhodes was 2-3 with a triple and a RBI. He also scored twice.
Bryce Westbrook was 1-2 with an RBI and scored 3 runs.
Matthew Wallace hit a 2 run Home Run in the grassy knoll over the left field fence.
Dawson had only given up 6 runs in their 5 playoffs games before the state semifinal game today.
This is Dawson’s Chris Sexton’s first year as a Head Coach.
