Marcus – The Marauders have climbed into the No. 3 spot in the rankings after starting the season 11-2 and taking down some of the top teams to get there. Both of Marcus’ losses came in the opening weekend tri-state tournament played in California to MaxPreps National No. 3 Orange Lutheran. Since then, the Marauders have won 10 straight with victories over No. 5 McKinney Boyd, No. 10 Prosper and Waco Midway.

Runner-Up
Westlake – The Chaparrals opened the season 13-0 and notched three District 25-6A wins in that undefeated span. No. 9 Westlake’s (13-1-1) lone loss came at the hands of No. 15 Allen and the 3-3 tie was against 5A No. 25 Denton Braswell. The senior-heavy squad led by coach J.T. Blair looks like a contender to rep Region IV at the state tournament.

Honorable Mention
Prosper – With just two returning starters from last season and a new coach at the helm, the No. 10 Eagles were a “Next 10” team in the THSB Preseason Magazine. Scott Holder and his squad quickly quieted any doubters with an 11-2 start to the season, with both losses coming in tight games to No. 3 Marcus. District 9-6A is loaded with talent and could once again produce the Region II state team and Prosper is right in the mix.
