Key Hits, Great Pitching Leads Naaman Forest to 3-1 Win in Game 1

Pablo Hernandez hit a 2 Run double in the 2nd inning and Cody Sturgeon pitched a 2 hitter giving up only 1 unearned run as Naaman Forest secured a 3-1 Game 1 win over Richardson Thursday evening in Regional Quarterfinal action.  It was the 30th win of the season for the Rangers.

Chandler Fidel added another run on a sacrifice fly in the 3rd inning, giving Naaman Forest a 3-0 lead.  Sturgeon held Richardson scoreless until the top of the 7th inning.  With one out, Sturgeon hit one batter and walked the next.  A ground out advanced both runners but an error allowed one run to score.  Sturgeon extinguished the threat with a strikeout to end the game.

Sturgeon had 2 strikeouts in the game and walked 3 batters.  The defense also turned 2 double plays in the game.

Naaman Forest and Richardson meet for Game 2 Friday at Richardson at 7:30 PM
