New Rules Affecting High School Baseball in 2014

Added a fourth playoff team advancing from each district in team sport activities in conferences 2A and 3A.

Changed the number of games allowed:
0 Tournaments and 23 Games or
1 Tournament and 20 Games or
2 Tournaments and 17 Games
3 Tournaments and 14 Games

When pitching from the stretch position, the pivot position must be parallel. There can no longer be a 45 degree angle. The throws to 1st are essentially the same.

If there is interference with the batter preventing the catcher from making a play, the batter will be out.

Hard tags to the head, the player will be ejected. If on offense, the player will be ejected and will be called out (unless he has already scored).

Runners must slide at home plate and avoid contact. Malicious contacts supersedes obstruction.

Intentional elbows or anything above the waist will be considered malicious contact. It will be the umpire’s judgement on malicious contact.
