Oak Ridge’s Luken Baker Named Texas Gatorade Player of the Year

Sr 1B/P Luken Baker was named the Texas Gatorade Player of the Year earlier this week.  The 6-5, 250 pound Baker has been a key player for the Oak Ridge War Eagles, helping lead them to 27-1 record and 20 game winning streak heading into the Regional Semifinals this week.

Baker is 11-0 on mound this year with 101 strikeouts and a 1.23 ERA.  At the plate, he is hitting .452 with 7 home runs.  He won the Junior MLB Home Run Derby at the MLB All-Star festivities last summer.

Baker was considered a high round draft pick in the upcoming MLB draft but recently announced his intention to enroll at TCU and play baseball there.
