He was ranked in the top 10 in four hitting categories among all 6A players: 1st in Runs Scored, tied for 2nd in Triples, tied for 6th in Hits and tied for 8th in Home Runs. He was named a 1st Team Player on the 27-6A All-District Team. He was selected to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association 6A All-State Team as a 1st Team Outfielder and to the Texas Sports Writers Association 6A All-State Team as a 2nd Team Outfielder.

As a sophomore in the shortened 2020 season, Wells hit .390 with 4 RBIs, 17 Runs, 7 Stolen Bases and a .528 OBP.

In his freshman season, Wells hit .486 with 7 Doubles, 1 Triple, 21 RBIs, 33 Runs, 18 Stolen Bases, a .536 OBP and a .562 SLG. His 56 Hits was tied for 4th among all 6A players. He was named a 1st Team Outfielder on the 26-6A All-District Team. He was selected to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association 6A All-State Team as a 3rd Team Outfielder and to the Texas Sports Writers Association 6A All-State Team as a 3rd Team Outfielder.
