Pottsboro Coach Bart Williams Dies At Age 47 From Year Long Battle with Cancer

Pottsboro Head Baseball Coach Bart Williams passed away yesterday, December 2, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 47 years old.

Williams has been the Head Baseball Coach at Pottsboro the last 13 years but was diagnosed with colorectal cancer last December. He continued to coach the Cardinals baseball team despite battling the cancer.

Pottsboro went undefeated in district at 12-0 to claim the 9-3A District Championship. Coach Williams picked up his 300th win on April 20th after a 10-0 run-rule win over S & S Consolidated. They advanced all the way to the Regional Semifinals before being knocked out by White Oak, finishing their season with a 23-7 record. Coach Williams finished the year with 307 career wins.

Williams was also honored as Secondary Teacher of the Year at Pottsboro this past year.

Williams served high school baseball statewide by serving as one of the Regional Directors for the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association.
