We witnessed mother nature once again stepping in and showing us her power last weekend in the area round. We are once again faced with the same issue in many parts of Texas and unfortunately we have to deal with it. Most teams plan their locations thinking in terms if inclement weather hits can they still get the game in. Turf is always an option, fields that drain well, or fields with a very reliable grounds crew are all key in picking a site.
Wel,l in Boerne Texas, at Boerne Champion High School, Coach Chuck Foster has other options. Boerne Champion is currently facing District foe San Marcos and down 1-0 in the series. Today the series is scheduled to continue at 4pm at Champion High School. Coach Foster is not about to give up home field advantage so he brought in a Helicopter to dry the field. Yes people… a Helicopter! This goes along the same line I have used all year that football is not the only big thing in Texas. We go above and beyond for our Baseball as well. San Marcos has a newly built all turf Baseball Complex but the Chargers have a beautiful all natural playing field that Coach Foster personally tends to. Water is always good for our grass but the Chargers and Rattlers cannot have that today.
What an amazing job to make sure the game and series stays on schedule. It is just Friday and weather in some parts has already started to reveal its weekend plans. Keep it locked it to all our twitter accounts, our website for any changes that are going on in the Regional Quarterfinals. – Javier Ramirez
