The Episcopal Knights beat the Fort Worth Country Day Falcons 4-0 on Friday, April 3o at Don Sanders Field on the campus of Sam Houston State.
For the 2021 season, the SPC chose not to have a championship tournament. Instead, the top finisher in the North division met the top finisher in the South division. The North division winner was Fort Worth Country Day while the South division winner was the #1 ranked team in the Diamond Pro/THSB large school category for private schools.
Episcopal won the championship 4-0 behind a stellar pitching performance by senior Gunnar Brown. Brown threw a complete game shutout. He gave up only one hit while walking zero and striking out eleven. For Fort Worth Country Day, junior Reed Stubbs and senior Max Miller held a powerful Episcopal offense to four runs on six hits with only one walk. Neither team had an extra base hit in the game. For Episcopal, Tres Organ was 1-4 with 2 RBI. Raffi Gross got the scoring started in the first with a steal of home. The Knights then scored 3 runs in the 4th inning. James Taussig was hit by a pitch, followed by a Bennett Hanks single. Organ then singled to drive home two runs. Andrew Thornton then doubled to close out the scoring. Congratulations to the Episcopal Knights on winning the 2021 SPC championship.
