THSB All-Decade Team: Brett Baty, 3B/RHP, Lake Travis, 2019

Brett Baty is a 3B/RHP who played for the Lake Travis Cavaliers 2017-2019. In his senior season, Baty hit .602 with 19 Home Runs, 50 RBIs and 63 Runs. On the mound, he was 6-0 with an 0.92 ERA and 96 K’s in 53 innings. He was named the 25-5A MVP and the Texas 6A Player of the Year.

In his junior season, Baty hit .443 with 10 Doubles, 12 Home Runs, 27 RBIs, 43 Runs and a .966 Slugging Percentage. On the mound, he was 4-1 with a 1.42 ERA and 39 Ks in 34.1 innings. He was named the 25-6A MVP and was selected as a 6A 1st Team All-State 3B. He was named the 2018 Texas Gatorade Player of the Year and was selected to the Collegiate Baseball All-American Team.

Baty signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Texas. He was drafted with the 12th pick in the 2019 MLB Draft by the New York Mets. He signed with the Mets on June 15, 2019 for a $3.9 million signing bonus.

Baty started out in the Rookie League in 2019 but was promoted after 5 games and finished with the A League Brooklyn Cyclones. Playing for 3 teams, Baty finished 2019 with a .234 average, 16 Doubles, 7 Home Runs, 33 RBIs and 37 Runs.
