Banta was injured his sophomore season and did not play.
As a freshman, Banta was 4-3 with a 4.16 ERA and 73 Ks in 40.1 innings. At the plate, he hit .340 with 3 Doubles, 1 Triples, 26 Runs, 11 RBIs, 8 Stolen Bases and a .633 OBP. He was named the Division 3 District 2 Freshman of the Year and a 2nd Team All-District Player.
