In his junior season, Fernandez was 6-1 with a 2.10 ERA and 72 Ks in 56.2 innings. At the plate, he hit .386 with 4 2Bs, 10 Runs and 10 RBIs. He was named a 1st Team Pitcher on the 23-5A All-District Team. Fernandez was selected to play in the 2017 HABCA All-Star Game.
