THSB Player Profile: Noel Vela, Sr, LHP/1B, Mission Veterans Memorial

Noel Vela is 6’1”, 155 lb LHP/1B playing for the Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots. He has signed with the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley.

In his junior season, Vela hit .538 with 16 2Bs, 3 3Bs, 6 HRs, 43 RBIs and 44 Runs. He was also 5-3 on the mound with an 0.71 ERA ad 93 Ks in 49.1 innings. Among all 5A players he was ranked in the Top 5 in Batting Average, Hits, Doubles, Home Runs and Runs. He was ranked among the Top 10 players in RBIS and ERA. He was named the 31-5A MVP. Vela was also selected to the THSBCA All-State Team as a 1st Team 1B and to the TSWA All-State Team as a 1st Team 1B.

As a sophomore, Vela hit .431 with 15 2Bs, 33 RBIs and 25 Runs. On the mound he had 11 wins with a 1.60 ERA and 141 Ks. He was named to the 31-5A All-District Team as a First Team Pitcher. He was selected to the THSBCA All-State Team as a 2nd Team Pitcher and to the TSWA All-State Team as an Honorable Mention Pitcher.

As a freshman, Vela was selected to the 31-4A All-District Team as a 1st Team Pitcher.
