THSB Player Profile: Richard Gilbert, Sr LHP/1B, SA Johnson

Richard Gilbert is a 6’2”, 198 lb Senior LHP/1B playing for the 6A San Antonio Johnson Jaguars.  He has committed to Texas Tech.

In his junior year, Gilbert was 11-2 on the mound with a 1.93 ERA and 92 Ks.  He also had a .382 batting average with 11 doubles, 3 triples, and 2 home runs.  He had 27 RBIs.  Gilbert was the winning pitcher in the 6A State Semifinal win over Amarillo.

Gilbert was a 1^st Team All-District selection.  He also was selected as a 1^st Team Pitcher for both the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-State Team and the Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Team.

Gilbert was selected to play on the Texas Rangers Area Code Team this past summer.  His fastball touched 91 MPH at the Area Code Games.  Gilbert has also been selected to play on the USA Baseball U18 Team this Fall.
