Team USA wrapped up their Super Round in a big way, hitting 6 Home Runs on their way to a 12-3 win over Nicaragua Saturday. With the win, the team improved to 8-0 overall in the tournament and 5-0 in Super Round play. Team USA now plays the Panama National Team for the Gold Medal today (Sunday) at 5 PM. Panama finished the tournament at 7-1 with its only loss coming to the USA Team last Wednesday, 9-8.
Sr SS Bobby Witt Jr (Colleyville Heritage) went 1-3 on the day with a Solo Home Run in the 4th. It was Witt Jr’s 2nd HR of the tournament and his 12th RBI.
Jr RHP Jared Kelley (Refugio) pitched 4 innings in middle relief giving up only 1 run on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2 batters. Sr RHP Sammy Faltine (Ft. Bend Travis) pitched the last 2 innings of the game giving up 1 run on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2 batters.
