Villanueva Strikes Out 14 as Anson Takes 2-0 Game 1 Win

Matt Villanueva threw a 1-hit shutout and struck out 14 as Anson won the first game of the series 2-0. Stamford’s Ligon West had an infield single in the first and Wesley Gonzalez flied out to right as the first batter in the 2nd.  After that, Villanueva did not allow a batted ball out of the infield.

For Anson, Stetson Meek scored in the 1st inning on a passed ball.  The Tigers picked up a second run in the 5th when Isaiah Garcia singled home Chase Finley.  Garcia was 2-4 with 1 RBI.
