Blake Mitchell Named THSB Player of the Year

Blake Mitchell is THSB’s 2023 Player of the Year.  He was the THSB Defensive Player of the Year in 2022.

Mitchell had 42 hits in 93 official at bats for a 452 Batting Average. He had a .691 OBP and a .806 SLG.  Of his 42 hits, 15 were doubles and 6 were home runs. He had 41 RBIs and scored 49 Runs.  Being a patient batter, Mitchell was walked an amazing 63 times this season.  He also led all of 4A with 44 SB.

Mitchell was strong defensively at the catcher position.  He has a strong arm and a quick release that baserunners respected.  He led Sinton to three consecutive 4A State Tournament appearances, winning the 4A State Championship in 2022.

Mitchell was named the Texas Gatorade Player of the Year this year for the 2^nd year in a row.  He was to the THSBCA 4A All-Star Elite Team.  He was also the 8^th player picked in the 2023 MLB Draft earlier this year.
