Derrick Cherry is a 6’1”, 185 lb SS/RHP for the 6A Goose Creek Memorial Patriots. He has committed to the University of Houston.

In his junior season, Cherry hit .347 with 8 2Bs, 5 HRs, and 22 RBIs. On the mound, he was 2-2 with 59 Ks in 42 innings and a 2.00 ERA.

As a sophomore, Cherry hit .234 with 19 Runs and 11 RBIs. He had 15 BBs and a .379 OBP.

As a freshman, Cherry hit .308 with 6 2Bs, 1 HR, and 21 RBIs. He was 1-0 on the mound in 4 appearances with a 1.40 ERA and 12 Ks in 10 innings. He was named the 22-5A Freshman of the Year.
