Hunter Rose is a 6’1” 190 Senior LHP/OF for the 14-4A Texarkana Pleasant Grove Hawks. He has signed with the University of Arkansas.

HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL
As a junior, Rose was 10-1 with 97 Ks in 75.2 IP, a 0.18 ERA and a 0.515 WHIP. At the plate, he hit .426 with 15 2B, 8 3B, 2 HR, 40 RBI, 32 Runs, 6 SB, a .518 OBP and a 0.769 SLG. He was named the 14-4A Offensive Player of the Year. He was selected to the THSBCA 4A All-State Team as a 1st Team OF and to the TSWA 4A All-State Team as a 1st Team OF. He was also named to the THSB All-Texas 2nd Team.

In his sophomore season, Rose was 4-1 with 25 Ks in 29 IP, a 1.20 ERA and a 1.103 WHIP. Offensively, he was he hit .304 with 3 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 7 RBI, 19 Runs, 7 SB, .426 OBP and a .500 SLG. He was named to the 15-4 All-District Team as a 1st Team Pitcher.

As a freshman, Rose had 8 wins 84 Ks and a 2.10 ERA. At the plate, he hit .379 with 13 2B, 4 3B, 1 HR, 26 RBI and 22 Runs. He was named the 15-4A Newcomer of the Year.

INTERVIEW

Pleasant Grove made it all the way to the State Championship Game. Talk about that game.

Well, it was really fun. And it was really hot! We went out there expecting to win and not everything went our way. But that is where we wanted to be, in the State Championship. Calallen was good. They hit well and had good arms on the mound. We didn’t play our best and they played well. That was the difference. But we were happy to be there.

What do like about this year’s Pleasant Grove team?

I like everybody on this team. They’re like my best friends. So I get to go out there and play with my best friends every day. It’s a lot of fun to be with these guys.

What do you think are the challenges this year?

I think the challenge is just focus on winning and not on the individual stuff. If we don’t do that, I don’t think we’ll lose.

What will it take to get back to the State Championship game?

I think we will do a lot the same stuff we did lat year. Everybody just kind of focuses and works together. We don’t stuff on our own. We are a team and that helps us a lot.

You and Spencer Browning have been key guys on this team. Who is another player that you expect will contribute in big ways?

My friend, Jace Elrod. He’s our leadoff and he hits really well and plays defense. He can play anywhere and he really helps us a lot. He recently committed to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

How do you see your role on this year’s team?

I think I do a great job of helping everybody on the team. We all help each other, Giving tips when we’re pitching, helping each other in the outfield.

Why Arkansas?

I’ve always liked them since I was little. That’s always been my favorite team. And everything there is nice. The coaches, the facilities, the program.
