Elkhart’s John Adair Reaches 500 Win Milestone in 2015 Playoffs

Elkhart’s Head Baseball Coach John L. Adair recorded his 500th career win this past spring on Friday, May 22, with a 13-1 regional quarterfinals series clinching win over the Buna Cougars at Centenary College.  Adair has been the head coach at Elkhart for 15 of his 26 years coaching. He has also had coaching stints at Hudson, Athens, and Malakoff.

Adair entered the 2015 season with 477 wins. His Elkhart team ended district with a 2nd place 10-4 record. They won playoff matchups versus Hemphill, Danbury and Buna to help Coach Adair reach the 500-win plateau. The Elks lost in the Regional Semifinals to eventual State Champion West.

Coach Adair also serves as the Poll Director and All-State Chairman for Classes 2A, 3A and 4A.

Smithson Valley’s Chad Koehl Hits 200 Win Milestone

Smithson Valley’s 8-0 win over San Antonio Wagner last Friday was Head Baseball Coach Chad Koehl’s 200th career win with all of his 200 wins coming at Smithson Valley. He is in his 10th year with the Rangers.

Arlington Martin’s Curt Culbertson Gets 500th Win

Arlington Martin’s 11-4 win over Fort Worth Paschal last Saturday gave Coach Culbertson his 500th career win as a Head Baseball Coach.

Coach Culbertson is in his 14th year at Martin High School, and this is his 12th season as the Head Baseball Coach. He was born and raised in Arlington, and graduated from Arlington High School in 1978. He has worked at Alvarado, Weatherford, and for the last 19 years within Arlington ISD. Since being with Martin, Coach Culbertson has taken the Warriors to the State Playoffs and has been District Coach of the Year five times.
