Albany versus Muenster

Two more potential All State pitchers face off in game two as Albany’s Brian Hamilton (13-0) faced Muenster’s Parker McGrew (11-0). A perfect season won’t remain intact for one of these outstanding arms.

The first inning was rather uneventful as Albany would ground out 3 times. Brian Hamilton did reach second from a walk then a passed ball. Muenster would load the bases but couldn’t convert. Albany’s Dax Neece led off the 2nd with a single. A nice sac bunt by Roman Fuentes moved him to second, but that would be as far as he got thanks to two more ground balls. The bottom of the second got a little exciting as a E5 would put Stetson McGrew on first. A passed ball and a sac fly later he would be standing on 3rd. Carson Trubenbach was hit by a pitch then stole second to put runners on second and 3rd with one out for leadoff Clay Stevens. Brian Hamilton struck him out.

The third inning saw only 6 batters… combined. It was three up and 3 down for both teams. In the 4th, Albany’s Brian Hamilton led off with a single that was negated by 3 quick outs. Hamilton would quickly strike out Sawyer Sanders to start the 4th, but a 4 pitch walk put Stetson McGrew on first. Two more strikeouts and we headed to the 5th. The 5th went 1-2-3 for Albany. Muenster would leadoff with a hit but that would be all and the next 3 went down without a fight.
Parker Mcgrew would get a quick strikeout of the leadoff batter in the 6th, then another 4-3 groundout, followed by a lazy fly ball to his brother Stetson out in left field to end the top of the 6th. Another strikeout by Albany’s Brian Hamilton, then a single by Sawyer Sanders is followed up by a fly-out to left and groundout to the shortstop to end the 6th.

In the 7th, Albany’s Joshua Dyer would fly-out to left fielder Kagen Danglemayer to start the inning. Dax Neece with draw a 4 pitch walk to put a critical runner on base with 1 out. A sac bunt by Roman Fuentes moved him to second with 2 outs. Parker McGrew balked to move Dax Neece to 3rd but would then strikeout Ryan Hill to end the inning. With one out, an E5 put Clay Stevens on first, followed by a hit by Kagan Danglemayr to put runners on first and second. But an inning ending double play sent us to extra innings.

Parker McGrew continued to roll in the top of the 8th. He struck out the first 2 then a pop out to second baseman, Clay Stevens to end the inning. Ryan Hill took the mound for Albany in the bottom of the 8th. He would get Carson Cheaney to line out before hitting Parker Mcgrew who then stole 2nd and walking Sawyer Sanders. Joshua Dyer would take over pitching duties.  Brennan Binder would fly out to center field but the throw was cut by the pitcher Joshua Dyer who made a bad throw to the catcher. Muenster would win 1-0
