In a repeat of the 2017 State Championship, the Muenster Hornets would meet the Dallardsville Big Sandy Wildcats.  Number 1 in the State versus Number 2 in the State.  That’s how it should be.  Clay Stevens led off the game with a rocket past the shortstop.  Kagen Dangelmayr laid down a perfect bunt single.  One error later and its quickly 2-0 Muenster before Wildcat Pitcher Broch Holmes would settle down and retire Muenster.  Parker McGrew would take the mound for Muenster.  One pitch – one out.  But it ended there.  An error on the shortstop put Bryan Duff on base.  McGrew would walk the next 3 batters before recording another out.  Two more walks would score two more before McGrew’s day was over.  Brandon Sicking came in to pitch for Muenster.  An error at third would score the 4th run of the inning.  Big Sandy would never look back.

Broch Holmes would hit the leadoff batter in the 2nd before getting 2 batters to fly out.  Another single by Clay Stevens put runners on first and second but that’s as far as they got as Kagen Danglemayr would fly out to center field.  Big Sandy would take advantage of two quick singles, a hit by pitch and an error to score Brandon Hendrix in the bottom of the second.  Broch Holmes continued to be effective in the top of the 3rd.  He faced 4 batters and retired 3 of them.  Cody Adams would lead off the bottom of the 3rd with a walk.  A balk would move him to second.  A single by Bryan Duff would score him. Duff would score on a double by Brandon Hendrix.

Muenster went down 1-2-3 in the 4th……..so did Big Sandy.  Clay Stevens collected hit number 3 as he singled to lead off the top of the 5th.   A couple of singles later, he would score.  At the mid point of 5 it was 7-3 in favor of Dallardsville Big Sandy.  Cody Adams reached base for the 3rd time in the bottom of the 5th on a hit by pitch.  Two walks later.  The bases are loaded.  An errant throw to third ends up in the stands and big Sandy scores 2.  A walk and a hit by pitch adds another.  Garrett Lilley is hit by a pitch to put the score now at 11-3.  Anthony Parrish comes to the plate a drives a pitch to the gap in right center.  Brandon Hendrix scores from 3rd.  Broch Holmes scores from second and that’s the ballgame.  Final:  Big Sandy 13 Muenster 3
