2A State Semi-Finals Centerville v Collinsville

In a game affectionately dubbed the battle of the ‘villes, the Collinsville Pirates would take on the Centerville Tigers.  Collinsville started Rylan Newman.  Centerville started Blake Boyd.  Both pitchers went 3 up three down in the first.  Logan Jenkins was involved with all 3 for Collinsville while a popout, a ground out to third and an attempt at a bunt put Centerville back in the dugout.

Newman continued to throw well in the top of the second, striking out two.  The Collinsville bats heated up in the bottom half.  Rylan Newman led off with a triple that was followed by a massive home run to left field by Garrett Trevino.  At the end of the second, it was 2-0 Collinsville.  In the top of the 3rd, Centerville would get Lamarcus Justice on curtesy of a hit by pitch but wouldn’t get a runner to second.

In the bottom of the 3rd, Collinsville continued the scoring.  A leadoff single, a hit by pitch and a walk loaded the bases.  Cash Morgan hit a deep fly ball that was caught by Lamarcus Justice.  Two runs scored on a sacrifice fly.  Centerville would not get on base in the top of the 4th.  Collinsville got runners to 2nd and 3rd but couldn’t plate anyone.  At the end of the 4th, it was still 4-0 Collinsville.

Zantayl Holley leads off the 5th with a single. That was Centerville’s first hit of the evening.  Newman struck out Bazar then Trayce Schwab singled.  Holley subsequently stole 3rd.  Justice went down looking and Blake Boyd grounds out.  Collinsville added four runs in the bottom of the fifth.   Newman continued his dominance over Centerville hitters in the top of the 6th with another 1-2-3 inning.  Logan Jenkins got on due to an error and advanced to second after the ball went into the dugout.  Jaxon Jenkins moved him to third. Logan scored on a single by Cash Morgan to end the game.
