Abilene Wylie got a big 2 out hit from Cameron Hanna and Connor Carlton held Pleasant Grove in check as Wylie advanced to the 4A State Championship Game for a 2nd year in a row after beating Pleasant Grove 3-1.

Zach Smith and Sam King opened up the bottom of the 1st with back to back singles for Abilene Wylie. With one out, Tyler Henson walked to load the bases. After a strikeout, Hanna came to bat with two outs. Hanna’s shot went over the head of centerfielder Carson Cox clearing the bases and giving Wylie an early 3-0 lead as Hanna slid into third with a triple.

Connor Carlton sailed through the first 4 innings with the 3-0 lead allowing only two baserunners, one on an error and one on a hit batter. However, Pleasant Grove Catcher Keaton Russo led off the 5th with Home Run over the left fence. Carlton also gave up a double that inning but got out of trouble with a strikeout to end the inning. It was the only 2 hits of the game for Pleasant Grove.
