6A State Semifinal: Cy Ranch 2 Dallas Jesuit 1

Cy Ranch pitcher Riley Gossett limited Dallas Jesuit to one run on 4 hits and the offense scratched out 2 runs to give Cy Ranch a 2-1 win and a berth in the 6A State Championship game vs Arlington Martin Saturday morning.

Gossett never allowed a runner to 2nd base until Darius Hill hit a ball deep in the right field corner for a triple. 2 batters later Nic Ready hit a sacrifice fly that scored Hill for Jesuit’s only run. Gossett struck out 8 including the last batter of the game. He only gave up one walk, the first batter of the game.

Cy Ranch scored a run in the 4th when Elijah MacNamee led off with a double and sacrificed over on a bunt by Marshall Skinner. Zeke Bear then hit a fly ball to right field to score MacNamee.

After Jesuit tied it up in the bottom of the 6th, Zeke Bear led off the 7th with a triple to right field, in the same spot Darius Hill hit his earlier. After a fly out, Mason Hibbeler laid down a perfect bunt down the first base line and courtesy runner Logan Thibodeaux easily scored to give Cy Ranch the lead again. Gossett then came back out and retired the side in order.

Harrison Folk pitched well for Jesuit, responsible for the 2 runs but giving up only 5 hits in the game. MacNamee’s leadoff double in the 4th and Bear’s leadoff triple in the 7th were huge hits and Folk and the Jesuit Rangers were not able to keep them from scoring.

Cy Ranch meets Arlington Martin at 11:30 AM Saturday morning to determine the 6A State Champion.
