It was hot at noon at Dell Diamond.  There was no breeze, but we were still playing baseball.  Mason Johnson would take the ball for Linden Kildare versus Broch Holmes for Big Sandy.  No one in recent memory has more 2A Dell Diamond mound experience that Broch Holmes.  Could that be a difference maker?  In 7 innings we would find out.

Mason Johnson looked polished as he had a quick 1-2-3 inning in the top of the first getting Graden Emmons to fly out to left, Bryan Duff to line out to second and Brandon Hendrix to go down looking.  Broch Holmes started off in similar fashion with a leadoff groundout to shortstop Graden Emmons.  But after a lengthy battle at the plate, an error on Emmons would put Jacob Owen at first.  A walk would move him to second but that would be all.

Big Sandy would kick off the scoring thanks to a hit by pitch, three singles, an error and a hit by pitch. Broch Holmes was hit to start the top of the second.  Garrett Lilley and Brayden Lennox would single to score Holmes.  McKane Maxwell would score when Case Sutherland was hit by a pitch.  The score was 4-0 Big Sandy at the middle of the 2nd.  Linden Kildare could not generate any offense in the bottom of the second.  Big Sandy would add one run after a Broch Holmes double and 2 wild pitches in the 3rd.  Despite a single in the bottom of the 3rd, Linden Kildare could not get a runner past second.  At the end of the third it was 5-0 Big Sandy.

After Hunter Williams was hit by a pitch to lead off the top of the 4th, a sac would move him to 2nd.  Bryan Duff would single to right and score him.  At the middle of the 4th, it was 6-0 Big Sandy.  Linden Kildare would go down in order in the bottom of the 4th.  Big Sandy only sent 3 batters to the plate in the top of the 5th.  Garrett Lilley would single but ultimately get thrown out trying to steal third.  With 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th, Dalton Alford would single, a passed ball and a throwing error on the catcher scores 1 for Linden Kildare.

Brayden Lennox would jump on a pitch in the top of the 6th for a standup double.  A sacrifice bunt by Hunter Williams moved him to third and a RBI single by Case Sutherland scored him.  Trent Wert would come to the mound for Linden Kildare.  The inning would end with Big Sandy up 7-1.  McKane Maxwell would take the mound for Big Sandy in the 6th.  An error and a single would put two on in the 6th but Linden Kildare couldn’t move them past second.  Despite a hit by pitch and an infield single in the 7th, Maxwell would sit down Linden Kildare quickly.  Big Sandy would repeat as the 2A State Champions.
