EXOS Select 50 Player Spotlight

Evan Minarovic
Senior, SS
The Woodlands, Texas

Brains coupled with athletic ability and a great personality is what makes up The John Cooper’s Evan Miranovic. When asked why he committed to Northwestern in Illinois, the answer was simple and quick. Northwestern gave him the opportunity to combine a great education with a Power 5 Athletic program. What more could a young man need right? Taking advantage of what was taught at the EXOS camp, Evan stated he learned three things he needed to work on – nutrition, how to run, and to be quiet with his defensive actions. Minarovic stood out at the EXOS Select 50 5 Tool Testing event in August. He finished with the top overall score of all participants in the MLB 5 Tool Testing including the top spot at shortstop of the 5 shortstops at the event. A rare note and extreme complement came from Yankees Scout Mike Leuzinger who stated “he should be able to stay at SS at all levels.”

Evan is a shortstop for The John Cooper School in the Woodlands. The Woodlands will return all starters from a team that faired really well in 2018 in the SPC. Evan was honest and felt Episcopal would be their nemesis again this year. But with all starters returning, the team is up for the challenge.  Evan is committed to Northwestern University. He plays travel baseball with Hunter Pence Baseball.  His advice to others – play the game with passion.  Great advice Evan.
