Fort Bend Elkins Set to Honor Former Head Coach, Rick Carpenter

On May 18th, the Fort Bend Independent Board of Trustees voted to approve the naming of the baseball field located on the campus of Elkins High School “Rick Carpenter Field”.
Rick Carpenter was hired as the first head baseball coach at Elkins High School upon the opening of the campus for the 1992-1993 school year and he held that position through the 2006-2007 school year. Coach Carpenter led the Knights to an overall record of 366-109-4, a district record of 173-36, and a playoff record of 62-24. The team won 9 District Championships, 6 Regional Championships, 1 runner-up finish in the State Tournament, 3 State Championships, and the 2002 National Championship. 71 of his players earned athletic scholarships, 20 were either drafted or signed professional contracts, and 4 reached the highest level of professional baseball, the Major Leagues.
Since leaving Elkins High School, Carpenter has held the position of head baseball coach at Prosper High School in Prosper, TX. During the 2014-2015 season, Coach Carpenter won his 750th career game as a head coach. Rick has two sons, Matt (TCU & St Louis Cardinals MLB) and Tyler (UTSA & NY Mets MiLB), daughter Caitlyn, and wife Tammie. Rick and Tammie currently reside in Prosper.
The Elkins baseball program is planning a formal dedication ceremony to be held next season.
