Harker Heights Skipper Glenn Cunningham Retires after 36 years

Harker Heights Head Baseball coach Glenn Cunningham is retiring from coaching baseball after 9 seasons with the Knights and a total of 36 years of coaching both baseball and football. He finishes with a career record of 519-342.
Coach Cunningham played college baseball at Temple Junior College and Pan Am before graduating in 1978. After graduation, Glenn returned to Killeen and was hired as an assistant coach in both football and baseball at the newly opened Ellison High School. In 1984, Coach Cunningham was named the head baseball coach at Ellison High School. He coached at Ellison for 16 years and led the Eagles to their first ever district championship in 1990 and that team continued on to be an area finalist. In 1994, after 16 years at Ellison, Coach Cunningham moved to Graham, Texas where he was an assistant football and head baseball coach. In 9 of 11 seasons at Graham, Glenn led his baseball team to the playoffs as well as two state playoffs. Additionally while in Graham, Glenn was involved in the start up of the Texas Collegiate League. He coached two seasons in this nation-wide summer league for college-level baseball players. Coach Cunningham returned to Killeen ISD in 2005 where he was named assistant football and head baseball coach at Harker Heights High School.
At the end of the 2013 baseball season, Harker Heights High School baseball head coach Glenn Cunningham reached a milestone many coaches never reach. As the Harker Heights Knights won the playoff game against Shoemaker HS, Glenn Cunningham achieved 500 wins.
Coach Cunningham will continue to coach baseball with the Killeen Rebels Select baseball club and spend time with his family.
