Aiden Lemasters hit a walk-off 2 RBI single to cap off a big Boyd comeback as Boyd defeats Maypearl 8-7 in the first 3A State Semifinal matchup. Boyd will play the winner of the Wall/Corpus Christi London Semifinal tomorrow in the 3A State Championship Game.

Maypearl dominated early, jumping out to a 5-0 lead. They scored on a Bill Teague RBI single to take the 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd and picked up another run in the top of the 3rd when Cole Rager scored on a Tanner Terry ground out.

Maypearl’s big inning came in the 5th when they picked up 3 more runs. Terry had a two rbi single and Morgan Brooks bunted home courtesy runner Ryder Merritt to give Maypearl their 5-0 lead.

Terry had shut down Boyd through 4 innings but struggled with his control in the 5th. After Terry walked the bases full, Colton Patton hit a 2 RBI single to LF to make it 5-2. Jake Thomas then scored on an Aaron McGilvery ground out and Patton scored on a wild pitch to cut the Maypearl lead to 5-4. Boyd made it 5-5 in the 6th on a Chase Ferguson RBI single.

Maypearl responded in the top of the 7th. Cord Rager tripled to open the inning and scored on a wild pitch. Terry scored on an Isaiah Munguia single and Maypearl regained their lead, 7-5.

After making one comeback, Boyd was poised for the second. Boyd loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 7th on a walk and two singles. McGilvery scored from 3rd on an Eric Rogers sac fly to make it 7-6. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out, LeMasters then came up and delivered his heroic hit, a single to LF that scored pinch runner Evan Salinas and Jax Heid to give Boyd the comeback win.

LeMasters was named the THSB Semifinal Game MVP for his big hit. He was 2-3 with 2 RBIs and 2 Runs Scored.
