Central Texas Christian struggled against Reicher Catholic in two district games earlier in the season. But in the TAPPS Division 4 State Semi-Finals, Sr Pitcher Elijah Munson had their number, pitching the Lions to a 6-0 win and a trip to the Division 4 State Championship Game.

Munson pitched a complete game shut-out, giving up only 5 hits on 2 walks, striking out 7. Riecher Catholic had baserunners in 6 of the 7 innings, but Munson always found a way to get the outs. His defense also helped him on several occasions. In the second inning, Reicher’s Ethan Contreras hit a deep ball to centerfield and attempted to turn it into an inside-the park home run but a perfect relay from centerfielder Alec Gonzalez to SS Tristan Eanes to C Reagan Ragsdale tagged Contreras out at home.

While Munson held Reicher Catholic scoreless, their offense was able to produce some runs. In the 2nd inning, Zac Boore doubled in Munson to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. But in the 4th inning, the wheels fell off for Reicher Catholic. A walk, a hit by pitch, 2 singles and an error lead to 4 Central Texas Christian runs. The Lions picked up an insurance run in the top of the 6th when Dylan Degenhardt hit an RBI triple.

Central Texas Christian was the #2 seed out of District 3 and lost both district games to Reicher Catholic during the regular season. But they beat Hill Country Christian and Live Oak Classical to reach the State Tournament. And today Central Texas Christian was the better team.

Elijah Munson was named the THSB Player of the Game.
