No Hit Henley
admin | Apr 2nd, 2016Just know this, when Arlington Heights Head Coach Shad Whiteley hands the ball to Senior Blair Henley something special is about to happen. The University of Texas Commit who went 7-2 last year is proving to the state why Augie Garrido recruited him. Not only has Henley lead the Yellow Jackets to a 5-0 start in District play but his current streak is what is making most of us ask, Again?
Dating back to March 17 Henley has marched out to the mound and not allowed a single opposing hitter score a hit off of him. Yes that is correct, he has thrown 3 consecutive No Hitters. Now No Hitters at any level are a big thing, as most good pitchers and pitching coaches know it is difficult to keep the opposing team from hitting to say the least. Most will preach to pitch to contact and let your defense work. At any level, weather it be little league or comparing Hall of Famer Nolan Ryans 7 No Hitters. For a player to do it 3 times in a career is a lot, now 3 consecutive times is something that will stand for a long time. It started when he faced FW Southwest, then FW North Side and most recently Trimble Tech. His efficiency has been threw the roof only needing more than 100 pitches (103) during one of those outings. He recorded 13, 15, and 14 strikeouts to bring his season total to 52. Currently during his hot streak he has only allowed 4 BB combined. Overall he is 4-0 and in case you were wondering his other start he allowed only 2 hits.
So to all pitching fanatics stay tuned for Mr Henley’s next start and to Texas Baseball fans Skip Johnson has a good one headed to Austin.
