Pearland Run Rules Westlake 11-1 in 6A State Semifinal Game

Pearland banged out 12 hits and 11 runs while Nico Partida held Austin Westlake to just 1 run as the Oilers defeated the Chaparrals 11-1 in a six-inning run rule. Pearland will now meet Flower Mound on Saturday at 4:00 PM for the 6A State Championship.
Westlake actually got the early lead with a run in the bottom of the 1st. Braeden Babb led off the inning with a double over the left fielder’s head and then scored on Gillen’s single to left field.
But Pearland got a big inning in the top of the 3rd. With two on and no outs Caden Ferraro crushed a ball to right field that was eventually ruled a ground rule double scoring courtesy runner Franco Aguilar. Nico Partida hit a sac fly scoring Brett Smajistra, Braedon Morse had an RBI single scoring Ferraro and John Moya had an rbi singe scoring Morse. Pearland led 4-1.
Pearland blew the game open in the 5th inning scoring 6 runs. Anthony Avalos and John Moya both had 2-RBI singles. Cade Adams has an rbi single and Isaiah Castaneda scored on a passed ball.
Pearland picked up another run in the 6th when Avalos picked up his 3rd RBI of the night on a single to left centerfield.
Meanwhile, starting pitcher Partida was busy shutting down the Westlake offense. After giving up hits to the first two batters of the game, Partida only allowed 3 baserunners the rest of the way. He pitched 6 innings, gave up 1 run on 4 hits and 1 walk and had 2 Ks. Partida finished 13-0 on the season. He was named the THSB 6A State Semifinal MVP.
