Riviera Baseball helps WWP

Two things about small town America that is constant – they take care of their own and they love their country. Riviera Coach Ashley De La Rosa saw an opportunity to recognize the veterans of Riviera and also help the Wounded Warrior Project. “We have a very small community but it encompasses quite a few veterans. We are proud to be able to raise money and make a small donation to the Foundation” stated Coach Jeffrey Quillin.

This is the second year for the game. This year, 7 veterans attended the Friday night game. Before the start of the game, all of the Veterans were introduced. Each stood with the Riviera Baseball Team during the National Anthem. Each threw out a ceremonial first pitch. Coach Quillin added “as coaches, it is very satisfying to see our players shake hands, say thank you and show respect to the men and women who protect our freedoms. To us this is an ultimate life lesson and it is an event that brings our community together to show and give thanks.”

Riviera Baseball will be able to make a donation of $1,100 to the Wounded Warrior Project from t-shirt and concession sales. The Veterans were treated to 10-0 win over Bruni.
