Sinton was named the Preseason #1 team in the polls and clung to that #1 ranking all year long. Tonight they proved that they indeed were the best team in 4A with a convincing 9-0 win over Argyle. It was Sinton’s 4th State Championship and the first since 2002.

Sinton made the most of opportunities early. Marco Gonzales started the bottom of the 1st with a walk. Blake Mitchell reached on a fielder’s choice and advanced to to 2B on an pickoff error and took 3rd on a wild pitch. With one out Jaquae Stewart hit a fly ball that had the Argyle 3B pedaling backwards. He caught the ball off balance and Mitchell took off and scored on the fly ball out.

In the second inning, Rene Galvan led off with a single, stole second, and went to 3rd on a Nick Flores single. Galvan then scored on a Kaden McCoy Sacrifice Fly to give Sinton a 2-0 lead.

But things broke open for Sinton in the bottom of the 3rd. With one out, Stewart got on base by a hit by pitch. A Canon Chester single and a Rene Galvan bunt single loaded the bases. Braeden Brown got an RBI single to score Stewart and Flores had a sacrifice fly to score Chester. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, McCoy came up and hit a triple over the center fielder’s head, scoring both Brown and Galvan, giving him 3 RBIs on the night. Sinton added a Gonzales RBI single and a Mitchell RBI double and when the damage was completed, Sinton had a 9-0 lead after 3 innings. That remained the score of the game until the end.

While the offense was busy putting up runs, Wyatt Wiatrek and Jaquae Stewart kept Argyle off the scoredboard. Wiatrek started the game and pitched 3 innings giving 3 hits, 0 runs and 3 Ks. Stewart pitched 4 innings also giving up 3 hits and 0 runs and had 5 Ks.

Kaden McCoy went 1-2 with a triple, a sac fly, 3 RBIs and run scored. He was the Championship Game MVP by the media.
